3rd STC on Finance, Monetary Affairs, Economic Planning and Integration

Theme: Public policies for productive transformation

The 3rd Specialized Technical Committee on Finance, Monetary Affairs, Economic Planning and Integration will focus on the theme of “Public Policies for Productive transformation” with discussions on sub-themes such as Strategies for productive transformation in Africa; the role of regional integration and the private sector; and Transformative leadership and Africa’s productive transformation . The STC will be an opportunity to appraise the Ministers of the implementation status of recommendations of the previous STC meeting and make new recommendations especially around the current theme. The meetings will provide a platform for dialogue among the ministers and key stakeholders around how to achieve productive transformation using effective public policies; examine the role of transformative leadership in Africa’s productive transformation; and determine the policy implications and capacity requirements for achieving productive transformation moving forward.

The meeting will be divided into two sections:

(1) Experts’ Meeting and (2) Ministers’ Meeting.

The 2019 STC Meeting will be organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) with technical assistance from the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and hosted by the Government of Cameroon.

The STC’s aim is to provide concrete policy actions and measures required for productive transformation for consideration and approval by the African Union Summit in June/July 2019.
